Lake Meade

Lake Meade..... I'm hoping to see this again on the way to Vegas at the end of the Month! This picture was taken mid-summer, so I'm guessing the water level will be a bit higher this time of year. Makes you want to get a boat right? Well its tempting, especially if you live in the desert like me.

Chase Field, Go D-Backs!

These pictures were from my trip to Chase Field a couple of years ago. On the bottom is a picture of the stadium with the dome open (Yes it does open and close!). On the top is the pool in right-center field. That thing probably collects a lot of baseballs! Hopefully I can get up there to another game soon. Has anyone else ever been to this stadium? Any D-backs fans or haters?

Hoover "Dam Huge" Bridge

I took this picture a couple of years ago at the Hoover Dam. I wonder if they finished the bridge? Anyone been there lately that could fill me in? Regardless, it is unbelievable what humans are capable of building, and how drastically we can alter the course of nature's wonders like the Colorado river.

Pyramid Illusion

So one of the coolest things I've seen in a while is this pyramid optical illusion. Stare at the dot in the center of the pyramid, and eventually it will switch over to a black & white image of the same thing. The cool part is that when it changes at first, you should see the pyramids in color, when they are actually in black & white!

I learned about this concept in my Geography 416A class yesterday when we were watching a video on how vision is not just seeing one color or another, but is actually the mind constantly learning about new perceptions of hue, brightness, darkness, etc. In this picture, you "learn" that the pyramid picture is in color, so when presented with the same exact shape or pattern but black and white, your eyes initially interpret it in color. Cool huh!?

Back at it!

Well its been a few years since I've touched any of my blogs, but after getting sucked into facebook, myspace, and twitter during that time, I feel that I should consolidate my efforts back into blogging. Still finishing up my studies at the University of Arizona, I'm pulling the 5-year plan as I've finally figured out what I want to do. When I'm not busy with school, work, my girlfriend, friends, family, and my pets (aka "The Barnyard" as we call them), I am going to start writing in my blogs again. I think this is enough of a re-introduction as you're probably dozing off already like my 1 year old pup Jasmine (picture on the left). More pictures to come very soon!
